About Humphrey PVC Window Systems
Humphrey Products of Wichita, Kansas started
shipping aluminum products into Canada in 1952 to Humphrey Windows in
Edmonton, Alberta. Their sales people out of Great Falls, Montana opened
Dealers throughout western Canada. Dealers were established in Medicine
Hat, Lethbridge, Calgary, Swift Current, Regina and Saskatoon. By 1960
demand for the product was so strong it was decided to open a
distribution centre in Canada. This would allow Humphrey Products to
service their accounts and develop new ones. Winnipeg was chosen as the
site for the new facility. It was the geographic centre of Canada. In
1961 Humphrey Products of Winnipeg started shipping to their Dealers
throughout Canada.
In the early 70's Humphrey Products and their
Dealers were at the forefront of the fledgling "renovation"
industry. They offered window systems that could easily be installed in
existing openings. Their concept of each Dealer also being a full line
window manufacturer allowed the Dealers and the network to prosper. The
Dealers could control their own finished window supply. This was a time
when large manufacturers were only interested in supplying standardized
products for the "new construction" industry.
In 1982 a group of Dealers formed a separate
company and purchased the assets of Humphrey Products. This guaranteed
their source of aluminum window and door components. In 1988, new
management brought a change in direction that went along with the
industry moving to PVC window products.
Humphrey Products has continued to grow and evolve.
Humphrey now manufactures and ships over 25,000 top quality vinyl
windows a year to a variety of residential and commercial accounts. The
company has also expanded its product line to include high quality
residential doors and related accessories.
